Give Mom the Gift of Creativity This Year

More and more people are telling me that the type of gifts they want to receive are experiences! What a boon to the creative community! Making and creating is all about the experience, the process, and having fun along the way! So, this Mother's Day, let us give the gift of creativity to our mothers and grandmothers! They have earned it!

You may be wondering what this means. So, here are some ideas to help you plan your Mother's Day gifts. Whether you take a class or host your own DIY party, here are three ways to give the gift of creativity this Mother's Day!

1. Develop Time-Consuming Skills

Whether you want to learn to paint, watercolor, or improve your photography, these are some of the more time-consuming creative processes. This would be an excellent way to share an experience while also assisting in the development of these skills. I see Paint and Wine classes in cities, as well as watercolor classes at local galleries, and there are many online photography classes available. Purchase a painting easel kit or water coloring set as a gift for your mother, and then purchase a second set for yourself to join in the fun!

2. Participate In A DIY Making Class

Craft classes are springing up all over. Not only for painting. There are classes near you for making terrariums, planters, flower arrangements, jewelry, and even pottery. Purchase a class at one of these locations near you. You could also throw your own party and invite your mother! Buy all of the supplies and set up your station, then invite a few friends to join you in the making party, turning it into a DIY experience!

3. Learn to Bake a New Recipe

My mother usually teaches me how to cook and bake all of my recipes! So giving her the gift of something new, something she's never made before, will keep things interesting for her! How about learning how to make French macarons, cake decorating, cheese making, or even sushi? Something out of the ordinary that Mom might not have made on her own. Have some fun with it!
